In 1925, four-year-old Clyde Hooker, Jr. pulled the cord on the steam whistle that signaled the first work day at Hooker Furniture. In his 40 years leading the company, Clyde's remarkable dedication to the pursuit of making stylish, beautiful, well-made furniture propelled the company to become one of the nation's premier manufacturers and importers of furniture.
In 2000, Clyde passed the torch of leadership to Paul B. Toms, Jr., grandson of the company's founder, making Hooker one of the few furniture firms still led by a member of the founding family. Today, Hooker is recognized as one of the nation's leading furniture companies.
At Hooker Furniture, our mission is to enrich the lives of the people we touch through innovative home furnishings of exceptional value. The core values we stand for as a company are: integrity, listening, caring, innovation, service, responsibility, citizenship and honesty.
Hooker imports an extensive line of decorative accent furniture, dining, living room, bedroom and entertainment and office furniture from a network of factories throughout the Pacific Rim, Mexico and Central America. These imported furnishings are all designed by Hooker and conform to the company's high quality standards.
In addition to its administrative office in Martinsville, VA., Hooker also has a 580,000-square-foot Central Distribution Center and warehouse management system representing an $8 million investment. This investment has already resulted in a significant improvement in Hooker's delivery time to its retailers. Currently, about 80% of orders are shipped to customers in 30 days or less.
From the initial selection of material to final finishing and shipping, each step in the manufacturing of Hooker products is completed with precision and care that is evident in the quality and trouble-free nature of its products.
Hooker stands ready to solve the decorating challenges of consumers, meeting their needs, solving their problems and enriching their homes and lives.
